When are you going to die? When are your friends and family members going to die??

You are young. You say, “I’m barely half way through my life. I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”

Fuel your body with healthy food and physical exercise. Try mediation or breathing exercises. Horrible habits may not harm you now, but you never know when your body may need to be strong to fight a sudden illness or sudden accident.

Do not take life for granted. We all do, I know it’s hard. We forget how strong and resilient our bodies are one minute and how weak they can be the next.

I have a family member, just 41 years old, that suddenly became ill. We don’t know if he will make it or not. The doctors are skeptical. He has been in the critical care unit at the hospital for a week as of today. Doctors scramble to figure out what is wrong with him, but no one can find a diagnosis.

Now we sit and wait, not knowing what to say to each other. Wondering what will happen. Thinking about how he feels right now, is he aware of what is happening? Surely he doesn’t feel any fear or pain… right? We don’t truly know. It all seems so unreal.

Find happiness and peace in you life. Take care of your own health. Set and complete goals in your life. Don’t let your fears stand in your way. Let struggles from the past go. Show your family you love them and love yourself.

Find the beauty in life.

Breathing Exercises

Are you feeling stressed, tired, having a hard time sleeping, is your mind running in circles? Try adding some breathing exercises to your daily routine.

Here’s a very basic technique I regularly use.

Take a slow deep controlled breathe. Let the air fill your diaphragm and count to 3 or 4. Hold it and count to 3 or 4, then slowly release. Do this at least 3 times. Concentrate on the sound of your breathe. Do not allow yourself to become dizzy, this should be relaxing.

When you exhale you can also try keeping your mouth shut and exhaling through the back of your throat.

Another option is to picture something calming as you are taking these breathes, such as the blue sky, yellow aspen leaves, or red tulips. You can also picture the negativity leaving your body.

Scavenger Hunts and Family 5Ks!! #summer #fun

Discover the many scavenger hunts and family 5Ks in your area.  What better way for your family to have tons of fun and exercise at the same time!

My family did a scavenger hunt yesterday throughout downtown and it was so much fun!  We even got a 4 mile walk in 😀  We solved puzzles, searched for numerous landmarks around town, “preformed” a little improve at a local theater, did some rowing at a gym, and met new people.

There are also lots of family 5Ks now that are blast.  They are not just a walk around a park any longer (although those are great too)!  They now have black lights, bubbles, foam, color runs (including color that glow at night), lots of music, mud, and even some zombies!!

Loss of Focus and Concentration?? #focus

Do you loose focus when talking to others, while doing projects, at work, while watching a program or reading a book?  Is your head jumbled with multiple thoughts at one time?

This may be because you are tired, bored, distracted, or trying to focus on multiple things.  Loosing focus is extremely easy to do!  You are not alone.

1- Don’t feel you have to truly multitask. I don’t know about you, but I cannot fully focus on two things at one time. I can quickly switch back and forth between tasks, but I have to focus on one task at a time to get great results.

2- Get SLEEP.  Sleep is extremely important. If you loose focus easily and sleep less than 5 hours a night try getting 7-8 hours. Get into a rhythm. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.  Some people swear they don’t need much sleep…  How true is this??  Sleep is not a waste a time.  It provides more energy and focus. Which in turn makes you more efficient during the day.

3- EAT HEALTHY.  This is similar to sleep.  Eat healthy food that provides you long term energy.  Get your veggies and healthy proteins!  Stay away from quick sugar fixes.

4- TAKE NOTES!  If I am interrupted at work, I jot down a quick note of where I’m at in my task before taking another call or talking to the person that just walked up. Notes just take a second and can save you time in the end. Don’t under estimate taking notes!

Notes help clear your brain. How often do you think of things to pick up at the store as you are going throughout your day. You don’t want to forget so you have a portion of your focus going to this task. Instead, keep a task list on your phone or in a notepad you check each day. As something runs through your head, open your phone or notepad, jot it down. This leaves your brain open for other tasks.  This also works great at night.  Have paper and a pen next to your bed.

Just the act of writing something down helps you remember it later.

5- RELEASE STRESS. This is a big one!! Stress quickly clouds your focus.  Exercise, meditate, take deep breathes, use affirmations, try yoga.  Releasing stress will help clear your mind.

6-Look at people when they are talking to you. Turn the radio or TV down, remove other distractions.

7 -Keep your surroundings ORGANIZED and work on one project at a time. Make sure to finish projects so you can check them off your list!
